I knackered myself.

Three gashes on the joints of my left-hand fingers (the ones you use to make a “W” sign), a big, throbbing red spot on the pointer, plus three gashes at the back of both hands (three a hand), plus a bigger hit on my right shoulder and left knee. I also busted both wrists. Povidone iodine works wonders, but they still hurt, and the right wrist feel bad. Now to endure two literally bloody weeks until they clot and become tear-off windscreens.

Spooked by a motorcycle. He didn’t hit me, but I was too flustered with him that I didn’t notice the squarest sleeping policeman ever, then went off my bike and forwards, catching my fall the wrong way (standard protocol when falling off my bike: get palm and knees to bear the hit) and using my fingers and knuckles.

Goddamit that crash was so scary. Still amazed that nobody got hurt!

Good luck with your hand though!

McNish, 2011. Watching Truth in 24 II gave me new-found respect for Audi, even if they used to win all the things.

I’m worried about my wrist. No gash, but the pain is immense. Sure could use an Alaxan FR (Ibuprofen and Pracetamol in one) and a big top-up on Real Racing 3 (I want Z4 GT3 now but Pro career only).

That might be a very non-US thing to say, but I would go and see a doc first thing!

Ice pack immediately upon arrival, subsided, now acting up again. Good thing both my folks and my brother have medical insurance and I’m in, so if I broke it (I don’t think so, and I hope), a dank hospital can fix it no problem.

The meds are for the wound though. Grazes: they hurt the worst.

When you’re back on two wheels, please consider joining the Strava Oppo bicycle club I formed. You’ll be the fourth member.

There are others, and I’ve used zero of them. I had Strava recommended to me and it’s plenty geeky and consistent and useful for my needs. You can create segments and your phone’s GPS will give you time and speed for those segments.

Once you’re going again and you have the app, hit the link in the earlier comment and you can join Club Oppo on Strava! We’ll have a truly global bicycling team, and a truly cool one, since we all like cars.

This is why I always wear gloves. I've been over the bars several times and never had road rash on the hands. My last off was when I hit a dog at speed. No road rash, but a broken metacarpal in the left hand and some cracked ribs.
